The BBox
   The Monitor

Well, I have put more thought into the monitor than I would care to admit. Ultimately, I wanted a large viewing area, but I didn't want to pay a lot for it. I new I couldn't afford a computer monitor that was even close to 25". I really wanted an arcade monitor, but they are pretty pricey. I haven't totally ruled out breaking down and buying an arcade monitor, but for now I have settled with a Sharp 25" TV. The reason why I went with this TV is for a couple of reasons. Sharp generally make a decent looking TV that isn't real expensive. The biggest reason why I bought this TV is because it was the only one I could find that was 25" and had s-video input to it. For some reason finding a TV with s-video in the 25" size is almost impossible.

I also think that I lucked out when I got my TV. I found the model that I wanted from Best Buy, but when I went to order it online, they said they no longer carried this TV. I went to best buy to see if they had the 25NS100 model I wanted in stock. I looked and didn't see anything. I looked all over the net, and couldn't find this TV. Finally I ordered another TV. The add from Best Buy indicated that my new selection had s-video input so I placed an order and did the in store pickup to save shipping. When I went to Best Buy the next day, I went to look at the TV before I went to pick it up. Sure enough, there was no s-video on this TV. I was pissed!! I started looking at all the 25" TVs to see if any in the store had s-video. I got to the Sharp 25" model and low and behold it was the 25NS100. I went and grabbed a sales clerk and told him that I wanted that TV and asked if there was any new in the box in the back because I didn't see any on the floor. The sales clerk looked at the TV and told me that he didn't and that it must be an new model because he hadn't seen it before that night. I told him that I thought it was a discontinued model because their web site said that they no longer took orders for it. So the sales clerk looked into and it was discontinued. I asked him if he would sell me the floor model. The clerk went and asked his manager. Meanwhile I started looking at the TV, there was a few scratches on the case. He came back and said that he would sell it to me for $200. I then told the guy that it had some scratches on it and reminded him that he told me that it didn't come with a remote. He sold me the TV for $165. I don't care about the scratches because who would ever see them.

Anyway, here are the specs on the TV:
