I'm not going to pretend that I am an expert on this stuff. All this page does is point you to most of the pages I used for either research or ordering something. I hope that it helps. I will try and keep helpful hints on dealing with sites here if it pertains to ordering something.
| Build Your Own Arcade Controls |
This site has just about everything for building your cabinet. You will spend many hours here in the researching phase of your cabinet. |
| MAME.dk |
The absolute best collection of MAME ROMs available. Please remember to
donate to the cause. UPDATE!! Some bastard has forced mame.dk to shut down their ROM distribution as of 3/2/2002. I figured it couldn't last forever! Even without the downloads, a good game description comes with each ROM so you know if there are any problems with the ROM or what type of joystick to use with a particular game. |
| ACEROMs |
Another complete list of ROMs |
| The Tombstone Burners |
When you get tired of downloading the ROMS, Check out the Tombstone Burners. They are the best. Basically, go to the web site and find a burner in your country and ask them to burn you a complete set of ROMs. The service is free, all you have to do is provide the money for the 7 CDs and shipping. When I ordered mine, it was eight dollars and I payed through PayPal. Are you KIDDING me!!! I challenge you to find a better deal on the net! |
| Happ Controls |
The best place online to get your arcade parts for your cabinets. Everything from buttons to coin doors. Do your best to place your order from
Happ's all at once. This includes extra buttons and screws. I broke a
micro switch building and playing a prototype of my control panel (my fault but you never know). They have the cheeziest shipping charges on the net. I spent 35 dollars for a marquee bezel and a joystick (which they owed me). Save your money and buy everything at once. You will not know what your shipping charge is until the invoice shows up and you may be pissed! |
| Arcadeshop Amusements |
A reasonable alternative to Happ's |
| Hagstrom Electronics |
The home of the KE72-T keyboard encoder. Also, if you can swing it, I would
recommend that you get IOX36 breakout board and the KE-TBH3 trackball cable. And while I am thinking of it, you probably wont find a much better deal on the male-male mini din cables either. Don't forget to pick up two of the male-male minis if you plan on using your trackball as a mouse |
| MLCS Woodworking |
OK, I'm not a woodworker, but I have some friends who pretend to be. If you plan on using T-molding keep this place in mind. I have seen a lot of people out there who cut the grooves for their T-molding with a 1/8" router bit. PEEPS this is way too big. The actual "T" of the T-molding is only 2mm in width (I got my T-molding from Happ's). I ordered the 1/16" 3-wing slot cutter complete assembly (part # 5341) from MLCS Woodworking for a nice snug fit vice wrestling with glue to get it to stay in a 1/8" groove. MLCS is not have a high tech web site. In other words, you will not see an order status and you will not be sent a tracking number. They say 7-10 days after ordering you should
receive it and it took mine 8 days. When I called, they couldn't tell me the status of my shipment and that it would ship USPS because it was a small order. It showed up the next day via UPS. |
| One of the most underutilized resources on the net. The newsgroups!! The next few links are for newsgroups, be smart and use a newsgroup reader like Agent or Free Agent I have included links through Google's Group index, but it is not the near the same experience. |
